International Men's Day
Why Darren Belchamber, Branch Manager is our inspirational man this International Men's Day.
How do you try to be a role model for those in your team?
I try to lead by example and get the team to be the best that they can be, whilst realising opportunity in any interaction and offering an impeccable service to clients, we also have a bit of fun along the way!
What inspired you to start a career in property?
My best friend got into the business from school and It interested me greatly as it was a varied role where you met lots of people and were well dressed. I was also keen for a career that offered clear progression where hard work, tenacity and dedication was rewarded.
How has your journey with your brand evolved so far?
On a personal level, it’s allowed me to develop my career further. Lots of training and learning (if required) whilst allowing me to work towards a CePap qualification. For my clients, an extra depth of extensive countrywide marketing, a perfect balance of maximum exposure whilst retaining the independent feel with local knowledge and professionalism.
What do you love about your job?
Interaction with the public and clients from all walks of life, dealing with and all types of property and the thrill and buzz of winning business and helping people move. It’s also great to get out and about, not just sitting at a desk all day. I also love the fact that no two days are the same with it being such a varied profession.
What advice would you give to younger people entering the property industry?
Take time to learn the process, develop your communication skills, get to know your patch, work hard and listen to advice from your colleagues.
How do you take care of your physical and mental well-being?
I love spending time with my family, going for walks, off-road running, mostly on the South Downs, playing football and snowboarding.
Do you have a particular moment or accomplishment you are proud of?
My two sons! In terms of work, getting Manager of the year at the Lomond awards!
What's a fun fact about you?
I have completed the ‘3 peaks challenge’ climbing the three tallest mountains in England, Scotland & Wales in 24 hours.
